Call Us the Griswolds!!

You know the Griswold's if you ever saw Jason's favorite Christmas movie that we watch several times throughout the season, "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase.

So it was a Snow Day for me and Jason and Katie both got out early because of the approaching storm. Well then it would be a perfect day to put up our tree! Right? Yeah sure.
It was up.
It was down.
It was up.
It was really down.
It was up and tied to the wall and had weights on the tree stand!!!!

We just don't have luck with our trees. It's okay though. It's all decorated and looks lovely. And at least there isn't a squirrel in the tree!!! (there is in the movie)

Two new things for this year,I did the lights this year. No, that had nothing to do with the tree falling down, Mike! And Ben put the angel on top of the tree.

The house is all decorated so I shared a few pics. We have two beautiful mantels so they were fun to decorate. Katie still loves to move things around too. She is having fun with the village that was Bubala's. She knows how special it is and takes very good care of it.

Overall we had a fun day off. We haven't gotten much snow here. We got about 2in and then it turned to sleet. Hopefully there will be some snow in the morning for the kids to play in.

Forgot

I am so forgetful.
Jason was all excited to help me take our Christmas pics for our card. I had a small panic attack Saturday afternoon, realizing I spaced on ordering pictures. Well, really I kept hoping I'd find a cute picture from the summer, but couldn't find one with the two of them together. So here they are! I won't tell you which one's made the final cut for the card.

That describes my weekend...blah. I came down with the dreaded cold. You know the coughing up a lung, runny nose and sore throat. I passed it along to other's in the house. Luckily the kids just have the runny nose. Ben still has his cough but it doesn't stop him and he's had it for over a week now. Oh well, he still runs, jumps around and does his UFC moves with Dad. Grandpa Walter has not fared as well. He has not felt well in a few days. I feel terrible for him, he's not been out to Shaw's in days.
The only bright spots of the weekend: We went down the road (less than 2miles) to get a tree. Jason won out. I wanted to go where we always go, you know tradition. Well you know Jason, let's go close to home. It ended up being fine. Nice trees and a very nice man who showed us around his workshop!
The other bright spot, Jason took the kids to the Niantic light parade Sunday night. I stayed home. They met up with friends and had a great time.

Lynn's Friends

Yuki, my friend from college was back home on the eastcoast for the holiday. We were able to meet half-way at a really cool mall. We decided on the mall since I was bringing the kids with me. Everyone was happy, Bertucci's for lunch, Merry-Go-Round and play area for the kids and STARBUCKS for US!!!! Yes, they are fellow coffee drinkers. The surprise of the day was Cindy was able to meet us from her home in Massachusetts. Too bad Holly and Sarah weren't able to join us too. It 's okay though, I'm sure we will all see each other again at Yuki and Frank's wedding in Seattle this June!!!

Thanksgiving Day

This year we hosted Thanksgiving. Lynn's parents, sister and family and Walter were all with us. It was a great day. The kids were able to play outside for awhile and then all got along great inside! We didn't have to put a movie on until after dinner! The table setting wasn't too fancy and the kids sat at their own table out on the front porch (it's really another room). Katie and Ben made the napkin holders with Nana the week before and they were a hit! Of course Jason cooked and he made another gravy to knock your socks off!!! Boy, did I do good!!!!
I love when Jason is cooking and my Dad and Mike go in the kitchen to help stir! So cute!
So are these not the best pics of the boys picking at the turkey while Poppy tries to carve it? Then relaxing on the couch, stuffed.
We had a great day with family.

Veteran's Day at School

Katie's school had a very nice Veteran's Day program. I also included the cover to Katie's book she made at the end of her Bug unit. The whole class made books, sculptures and fact sheets on the bug they chose. Katie chose Firefly. She looked up facts on the web and then wrote them down for her book.

Vists....

The Sarah, Andy, Theo and Libby came down to visit for the day early in the month. Libby and Katie have so much fun together. They always seem to make some kind of potion that leaves the house smelling oh so great for days. Sarah and I got in one game of scrabble and now that the girls are older they joined our game. Lots of fun.
